Viral Val
Well that was exciting! Apparently I went viral and didn’t feel a thing!! All part of Charlotte’s Web I guess. If you missed it, just check out JinkersFarm on Instamagig. Apparently 80,000 people like me!!! The weather is warming up here, so I’m very grateful for the beautiful tree coverage that we have and the allt that we got to walk in last week. Highland Coo fact: Whilst I am the classic Coo colour that people have come to know and love, Betty is actually much closer to t

Tossin' the Dossen
Time for some more introductions. The Jinkers fold is a lot more than you may have seen so far. Did you know that a group of Highland Coos is known as a fold rather than a herd. It refers to our higher status of breeding over other bovines. Well actually it is more a reference to traditional Scottish farming practice where our ancestors were kept in a stone pen or fold over night for protection. Speaking of protection, our cool fringe has a name too. It is called a dossan. It

Glorious weather!
We’re finally getting some good highland weather here at Jinkers Way. Some magnificent white mornings. It feels so good to have some refreshing ice on your coat. Betty is looking absolutely splendid with some white frosting on her shiny black. Did you know that Coos have 2 coats? We have a long overcoat which is weather-proof, and an undercoat that thickens up in winter to keep us warm. Fortunately, we ditch that when the weather warms up. So that’s why we enjoy the frosty mo

Best day EVER!!!!
You’ll never guess what happened. Rachel took us on an adventure through a new gate and around to a different feurach. Lots of fun. Betty and I did some zoomies up and down the hill, Lola the crazy lamb came for some fun as well. That was all good, but the best part was that when Rach took us back to our paddock, she had left the new gate open! We figured this was just because she likes us and wants us to be happy. So off we went exploring. We found new plants to eat, long gr

A Lamb's Tail
Lath math my herd. The sun is shining and we’ve been brushed. The day is off to a great start. I thought today I would introduce you to Lola. Lola is but a wee uan (lamb), and we’ve grown quite fond of her. Lola is a free spirit. Some days she’s a coo, some days she’s a hound, other days she hangs with the sheep. She seems to have more freedom than anyone one here at Jinkers. Her life however has not always been so easy. Rachel loves lambing season. She loves to see the litt

Hoomans, Hens and Hounds
We’ve had some rain, we’ve had some beautiful ceò (mist), and we’ve had the sun shining through too. I’ve met lots of hoomans this week. They’re a weird bunch though, they seem to like to watch us eat… go figure. As long as the food keeps coming, they can watch all they like. It’s probably about time I started introducing a few hoomans. As highland coos, we are generally granted servants. Our first hooman was an absolute delight, and I suspect partially celestial. She was lik

Reigning, Cats, and Dogs
I saw the funniest thing today!, but before I tell you about that, I need to introduce you to more of the herd. The hounds. These guys are literally mini-me’s for Betty and I. They are the same colouring as us, they are quite shaggy, and the best part, in my mother tongue, the word for dog is Cu!! The poor little things just don’t have horns. Their names are Isobel and Theodore, or Izzy and Teddy. Teddy is pretty chill. He tends to not say much, but when he does, everyone lis

Hereth we be!
Well that was a wild ride! It was like a candy coloured time machine, but instead of travelling somewhere in an instant, it was like it took FOREVER! But here we are. I have been granted my new fiefdom and our adventure begins. First some introductions. My name is Ruairidh, of the clan MooGregor. I am a Highland Coo of Scottish heritage. The hoomans like to call me Valentino. My side kick is a sweet wee lass of the clan Coombell. Her name is Beitidh. For those needing pronunc
